Mahto Foods and Beverages is a part of Mahto Group initiative, In 2018 launched its first Food and beverages project, initiated with a focus on Indian agriculture and the farming community. The project is currently running in Jashpur for the organic cultivation of Indian gooseberry. This cultivation was prototyped and tested earlier on an acre of land and with the confirmation through successful results, the project in varying forms will be widescaped to some other parts of India as well. A similar project line is to be built around other foods, fruits, beverages and vegetables with a final aim of building a trustable and ethical value chain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian gooseberry <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amla, also known as Indian gooseberries, grows on a flowering tree of the same name.The antioxidants and vitamins found in amla berries offer several health benefits. High concentrations of vitamin C in amla helps the body recover from illness. Amla berries also include several flavonols, chemicals that have been linked to benefits like improved memory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the Indian gooseberry project is to take this wondrous fruit to the domestic as well as international market. According to a World Health Organization report, more than 80% of the world’s population relies on traditional medicine, primarily plant-based medicine, for primary healthcare. Unfortunately, India accounts for only 0.5% of the worldwide medicinal plant export trade. Bridging this supply gap stands tall in the vision of the company.<\/p>\n\n\n

MM foods and beverages takes responsibility for delivering the best produce from their farms. These fruits are nutrilicious and free from adulteration as the company takes full responsibility for the land from which it is grown.  It has been found that fruits including papaya, often eaten raw, are more vulnerable to contamination with chemicals due to the latter\u2019s residual toxicity as compared to cereals and pulses.  This is the reason why Mahto farms use only organic farming and its methods to grow their produce.Thus, organic production of papaya along with other fruits like Litchi and bana has been undertaken by the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
